Advisory

Victims in last night's Hilton Head Island and Bluffton homicides identified. Both cases remain under investigation.

The victims in last night's homicides—the first one occurring on Blazing Star Lane on Hilton Head Island, the second one on Mammy Grant Road in Bluffton—have been identified by the Beaufort County Coroner's Office.

29-year-old Rockiem Graham was identified as the Hilton Head Island homicide victim. Graham was found deceased in the back seat of a vehicle at approximately 7:45 p.m. The vehicle—driven by one of Graham's associates—was subject of a traffic stop at the intersection of U.S. 278 and Indigo Run Plantation, after Sheriff's Office deputies observed it being driven recklessly. Graham, who is from Hilton Head Island, is believed to have died as a result of gunshot wounds. Investigators located the outdoor crime scene on Blazing Star Lane— off Squire Pope Road—where they collected evidence for evaluation at the Sheriff's Office Forensic Services Laboratory. A forensic autopsy on Graham is scheduled to be performed Monday at the Medical University of South Carolina.

Bluffton resident—54-year-old Betty Brayshaw—was identified as the victim in last night's homicide that occurred off of Mammy Grant Road in Bluffton. Brayshaw's family members called Sheriff's Office Emergency Dispatch at approximately 9:35 p.m. when Brayshaw appeared at their residence with gunshot wounds. Sheriff's Office deputies and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to the Mammy Grant Road residence, where EMS paramedics confirmed Brayshaw was deceased. Sheriff's Office investigators and Crime Scene Unit personnel located the outdoor crime scene and collected evidence. As is the case with evidence collected in the Rockiem Graham homicide investigation, the evidence from Brayshaw's homicide will be evaluated at the Sheriff's Office Forensic Services Laboratory. A forensic autopsy on Brayshaw will be performed at the Medical University of South Carolina on Tuesday.

Last night's Hilton Head Island and Bluffton homicides are still under investigation and the Sheriff's Office seeks information from the public.
