At 10:15 PM on Thursday, March 22, 2018, Police Dispatch received a report of a cab driver who was involved in a physical altercation with a fare.  Officers responded to a Downtown bar and made contact with the victim who was seated in his taxi parked outside.  The victim stated he had been dispatched to the parking lot of the Ulu Factory to assist an individual who had reportedly locked himself out of his vehicle.  As the victim arrived in the area, a group of individuals flagged him down.  The cab driver exited his taxi, opened the trunk, and that is when a male and female pushed him inside.  Once the victim was lying in the trunk, the male and female punched him multiple times.  The male suspect choked the victim and then pulled a handgun and pointed it at the cab driver.  The male stole the victim’s wallet, cash, and cell phone.  The suspects attempted to shut the trunk lid with the victim still inside but the victim’s legs were in the way of the trunk latch.  The victim crawled out as the suspects drove away.
The suspect’s vehicle was described as a blue or black sedan. The male suspect was described as being in his early 20s and either Black or Hispanic.  The other suspect actively involved in the robbery was thought to be female because of her voice.  There was at least one other person on scene with the suspects at the time of the crime but they did not have direct contact with the victim.
The victim had visible injuries and was evaluated by medics.
