Details: On April 2, 2018 at 12:49 AM Corcoran Police officers responded to the intersection of King and Sherman Avenues for a report of a female screaming for help. Officers arrived and learned the screaming was coming from a residence in the 900 block of Sherman Avenue. Officers made contact with a male and female at the residence and learned the female attempted to leave the residence on foot following an argument. The male subject chased the female in a vehicle and forced her into his vehicle and transported her back to the residence where he forced the female back into the residence. The victim sustained minor injuries during this altercation. Once inside the residence the male hid an illegal firearm outside the residence, which was later located by the responding officers. The male suspect was identified as Richard Nevarez and he was arrested for spousal abuse, false imprisonment, being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of an illegal weapon, and possession of a short barrel rifle. Nevarez was later booked into the Kings County Jail and held on $240,000 bail.
