Needles- Vehicle Pursuit and Recovery of a Stolen Vehicle and Property

DATE/TIME: March 30, 2018/6:56 a.m.

INCIDENT: Vehicle Pursuit and Recovery of a Stolen Vehicle and Property

LOCATION: 1200 Block of Riverview Lane, Needles, CA

SUSPECT: Anthony Mayfield, 25 years old of Mohave Valley, Arizona

SUMMARY:
On March 30, 2018 at about 6:56 a.m., Deputies from the Colorado River Station/ Needles Police Department received information that stolen a 2005 Chevy Tahoe had entered the city limits. The vehicle was stolen the previous day during a residential burglary. Deputies conducted an area check and located the vehicle parked in front of a home in the 1200 block of Riverview Lane.

Deputies conducted surveillance on the vehicle until a white male approached the vehicle and drove away. Deputies initiated a traffic stop at which time the suspect sped away from deputies, resulting in a pursuit. The suspect driver, later identified as 25-year-old Anthony Mayfield of Mohave Valley, Arizona led deputies into Arizona. The pursuit ended shortly after when Mayfield caused the stolen vehicle to become stuck in soft sand. Mayfield fled on foot but was taken into custody as he hid in a near-by shed.

Mayfield is on active parole in Arizona for vehicle theft and had an active no bail warrant for a parole violation. Mayfield was turned over to the Mohave County Sheriff's Department. Stolen property from several residential burglaries that occurred in Needles was recoverd from inside the vehicle. The victms of the burglaries were contacted and their property returned.
