DATE/TIME: March 29. 2018 10:32 p.m.

INCIDENT: Home Invasion Robbery / Shooting

LOCATION: 9000 Block, Ponderosa Avenue, Hesperia

SUSPECT: Michael Goode, 36 years old, Hesperia resident

VICTIM: Withheld – Adult male

SUMMARY:
On March 29, 2018 at 10:32 p.m., deputies from the Hesperia Station responded to the report of a burglary in progress in the 9000 block of Ponderosa Avenue. Upon arrival, deputies found the suspect, Michael Goode, down and suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body.

Through interviews and evidence at the scene, Detectives determined Goode went to the location and attempted to gain entry as the resident slept. The adult male resident heard the disturbance and engaged in a verbal confrontation with Goode at the door. Goode continued to attempt entry to the house at which time the resident armed himself. Seconds later, Goode successfully forced entry and fearing for his safety, the victim fired one round from his firearm, striking the suspect. The suspect attempted to flee on foot, however due to his injuries he collapsed in the front yard at about the time deputies were arriving on scene.

Goode was airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in critical condition. The adult male homeowner did not suffer any injuries during the confrontation and is cooperating with Detectives. The firearm used during the shooting was recovered at the scene.

Michael Goode is on active Parole. He has significant criminal history, as well as gang affiliation. Anyone that witnessed Goode in the area prior to the home invasion is urged to contact Investigators.

Hesperia Station Detectives are continuing the investigation, processing the scene and conducting interviews. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Jacob Laduke or Sergeant Doug Hubbard at the Hesperia Station, (760)947-1500.
