#LASD West Hollywood Detectives Searching for Possible Additional Victims in Sexual Assault at Theme Park

On Monday, January 1, 2018, West Hollywood Station deputies assigned to the Universal CityWalk Substation received a report of a male adult who had indecently exposed himself to a female adult at the Universal Studios Hollywood theme park.

Deputies searched for the suspect and later located him when the suspect returned to the theme park later during the week. The suspect, 34 year-old Hershel Korngut, a Caucasian male, was arrested and transported to West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station where he was booked for the indicated misdemeanor charge and subsequently cited and released, pending an order to appear at Van Nuys Courthouse West on Wednesday, April 4, 2018.

Through the course of the continuing investigation, detectives discovered additional victims whom were identified as juveniles, who came in contact with the suspect at the theme park.

Detectives serving a search warrant at the suspect’s residence in the city of Los Angeles recovered evidence of child pornography, whereas the additional charges of possession of child pornography, lewd and lascivious acts upon a child and sexual battery will be brought forth at his upcoming appearance in court.

Suspect Korngut (pictured in the still photo and booking photo) was an audiologist at a Hearing Care facility in Tarzana and a mentor at a youth organization in Los Angeles.  Based on the allegations of the case and information of the suspect’s work and volunteer history, detectives believe there may be additional victims.

If you feel you have been a victim of Suspect Korngut or have any information about this incident, you are encouraged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's West Hollywood Station, Detective Dowdy at 818-622-9600.  If you prefer to provide information anonymously, you may call "Crime Stoppers" by dialing (800) 222-TIPS (8477), use your smartphone by downloading the “P3 Tips” Mobile APP on Google play or the Apple App Store or by using the website http://lacrimestoppers.org
