INCIDENT: PC496d Receiving Stolen Property -Vehicle

LOCATION: 37000 block of Torres Ave. Barstow, Ca.

SUSPECTS: 1. Mike Barnes, 34 years of age and a resident of Barstow
2. Brandon Riley, 32 years of age and a resident of Barstow

VICTIM(S): Confidential

SUMMARY: On March 23, 2018, at approximately 12:49 pm, the victim reported his 1999 black colored Honda Civic stolen to Barstow Police Department. Barstow Police took the initial report and entered the car into the stolen vehicle system. The vehicle was equipped with Lo-Jack.

At approximately 3:35 pm, deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, Barstow Station, received a Lo-Jack alert in the Barstow area. Deputies located the vehicle in a neighborhood 3.5 mile north of Barstow. Deputies contacted residents in the 37000 block of Torres Avenue where they found Mike Barnes and Brandon Riley. Barnes is on felony parole and Riley is currently on felony probation.

A search of the residence revealed a black colored Honda Civic was in the process of being stripped in the closed garage. The vehicle was confirmed to be the stolen vehicle reported to Barstow Police Department. Barnes and Riley were arrested for receiving stolen property and booked into jail. The investigation was turned over to detectives who are continuing the investigation.
