OSBI Agents Investigate Owasso Fatal Officer-Involved Shooting

Just before midnight Wednesday, the Owasso Police Department requested OSBI special agents investigate an officer-involved shooting. So far, OSBI agents have learned from witnesses that a 911 call was made at about 10:30pm asking officers to check the welfare of an individual at 15124 E. 108th Place. When two officers arrived at that location, Duane Preciado (d.o.b. 1/7/1979) came out of the house with an AK-47 rifle. Both officers yelled commands for him to drop the weapon. The officers then backed up to their patrol cars for cover as they continued yelling commands. Preciado began advancing toward the officers while making threatening comments. Both officers fired their weapons. Emergency medical personnel transported him to St. Francis hospital in Tulsa. Doctors pronounced Preciado dead at about 11:30pm. OSBI agents have been on the scene since early this morning gathering information from witnesses, collecting evidence, and documenting the scene. When the investigation is completed, agents will prepare a comprehensive written report for the district attorney. The DA will determine whether the shooting was justified. Preciado lived at the house with his wife.
