Flood Advisory until 08:00AM Friday
The National Weather Service in The San Francisco Bay Area has issued a
* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for... Marin County in northern California... Eastern Sonoma County in northern California... Napa County in northern California...
* Until 345 AM PDT
* At 1215 AM PDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated an area of moderate to heavy rain occuring over the region with additional heavy rain detected offshore. Rainfall rates between 0.25 and 0.50 inches per hour, with locally higher rates are possible in heavier showers through the early morning.
* Minor roadway flooding is expected to become more of a concern as rain trains over the region through the early morning, with an increased risk of rockslides and mudslides. Minor debris flows are possible in the Atlas, Pocket, Nuns, and Tubbs burn areas. In addition, there will likely be some flooding of poorly drained urban areas, small streams and creeks.
* Some locations that will experience flooding include... Santa Rosa, Richmond, Napa, Petaluma, San Rafael, Novato, Rohnert Park, Windsor, American Canyon, Mill Valley, San Anselmo, Larkspur, Healdsburg, Sonoma, Corte Madera, Tiburon, Fairfax, Sebastopol, Cotati and Sausalito.
* AFFECTED AREAS: MARIN ... NAPA ... SONOMA
Instructions:
Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route. Minor flooding of creeks, roads and normally dry arroyos is likely. The heavy rains may trigger rockslides, mudslides and debris flows in steep terrain, especially in and around these areas.
