AVOID the Bayfront Highway, all beach parks along Kalanianaole Street, and Coconut Island due to road closures from high waves and debris on roadways.

State Highways and Public Works crews are erecting additional barricades and the public is asked to stay away from shoreline areas for safety reasons.

The closures will remain in place until wave and water conditions improve and roadways are cleared.

Hawaii Island Civil Defense is monitoring the wave activity and additional closures may be needed if conditions worsen.
