Chief Westrick Graduates from the FBI National Academy Program

HOLLISTER, CALIFORNIA – March 21st, 2018 – The Hollister Police Department is pleased to announce that on March 16, 2018 Chief David Westrick graduated from the FBI National Academy Program in Quantico, Virginia.
 
Chief Westrick was among two hundred and twenty-three law enforcement officers who graduated from this session.  This was the 271st session of the National Academy and consisted of men and women from 48 states.  Included in the class are members of law enforcement agencies from the District of Columbia, 18 international countries, five military organizations, and five federal civilian organizations.
 
Internationally known for its academic excellence, the National Academy Program, held at the FBI Academy, offers ten weeks of advanced communication, leadership, and fitness training for selected officers having proven records as professionals within their agencies.  On average these officers have 21 years of law enforcement experience and usually return to their agencies to serve in executive-level positions. Graduates of the FBI National Academy represent the top 1% of all law enforcement leaders worldwide.

Since 1972, National Academy students have been able to earn undergraduate and graduate credits from the University of Virginia.  During his time at the Academy, Chief Westrick received A’s in the 5 graduate level courses he completed.
 
Chief Westrick qualified for and completed the Yellow Brick Road Endurance Run as a capstone to the physical fitness portion of the FBI National Academy. The Yellow Brick Road is also known as the US Marines 10k Endurance course. It is a test of fitness, agility and stamina. The air temperature the day of the run was 27 degrees in Quantico, VA.
