The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

March 17th

1024 Hours: Officer D. Johnson contacted and arrested a 23-year-old Newark male for his outstanding warrants during a pedestrian stop on the 6700 block of Thornton Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

2116 Hours: Officer Taylor contacted and arrested a 26-year-old Newark male for battery on a person and disorderly conduct while conducting a security check of O’Sullivan’s Bar parking lot, 5660 Thornton Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

0021 Hours: Officer Slavazza conducted a traffic stop after observing a vehicle swerving on Stevenson Boulevard at Farwell Drive. The driver, a 25-year-old Newark male was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

0134 Hours: Officer Piquette contacted and arrested a 21-year-old Newark male for his outstanding warrant during a traffic stop on the 7800 block of Wells Avenue. The suspect was issued a citation and released at the scene.

March 18th

1305 Hours: Officer Damewood investigated a vehicle vandalism case on the 5400 block of Saint Mark Avenue.

1708 Hours: Officer Jackman contacted and arrested a 24-year-old transient female for her outstanding warrants on the 5400 block of Thornton Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

1708 Hours: Officer D. Johnson contacted and arrested a 22-year-old Fremont male for possession of a controlled substance on the 5400 block of Thornton Avenue. The suspect was issued a citation and released at the scene.

1849 Hours: Officer Rivera investigated a package theft on the 37900 block of Luma Terrace.

2221 Hours: Officer Arroyo investigated a theft from a vehicle on the 39800 block of Pelton Terrace. The loss was a Dell laptop and Apple air buds.

March 19th

1119 Hours: Officer Mavrakis contacted and arrested a 41-year-old Salinas male for disorderly conduct on the 5900 block of Mowry Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

1731 Hours: Officer Mavrakis investigated an auto burglary on the 6300 block of Buena Vista Drive. The loss is the vehicle’s radio faceplate and loose change left in the vehicle.

1755 Hours: Officer Mavrakis investigated the theft of a Green, 1991 Honda Accord (CA License #2VNZ596) on the 7400 block of Mowry Avenue.

0008 Hours: Officer Hunter contacted and arrested a 45-year-old Newark male for being under the influence of a controlled substance and probation violation on the 5500 block of Thornton Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

0124 Hours: Officer Palacio responded to a disturbance at the EZ-8 Motel, 5555 Cedar Court. A 19-year-old San Jose female was arrested for disorderly conduct and subsequently booked into the Santa Rita Jail.
