Sheriff's MET Team serve search warrant in the 15000 block of Avon Court and find over 400 marijuana plants

INCIDENT: Search Warrant - Indoor Marijuana Grow
LOCATION: 15000 Block of Avon Court, Victorville
SUSPECT(S): Vu T Bui, age 40, resident of Ontario
SUMMARY:
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department - Marijuana Enforcement Team (MET) served a search warrant at the location after learning about illegal narcotic activity. Investigators found an indoor marijuana grow with over 400 marijuana plants and over 35 pounds of processed marijuana. The grow operation used high-powered lighting, air conditioning, fans, exhaust blowers and an air-filtering system to control the climate and odor of marijuana. Evidence suggests the grow operation was operating for several months. The suspect was at the residence during the service of the search warrant and was arrested without incident.
California’s newest form of marijuana laws, known as MAUCRSA, went into full effect on January 1st. The City of Victorville has an ordinance prohibiting Commercial Cannabis Activity which includes growing more than six marijuana plants at a residence. Additional information regarding what is allowed can be found in the Victorville Municipal Code in Chapter 13.150 – Commercial Cannabis Activity. Personnel from the City of Victorville Code Enforcement Division responded to begin their investigation. The electrical power was disconnected by SCE and the residence was “red tagged” unsafe to occupy.
Generally, large marijuana grows, such as this one, require local and state licensing and are not permitted in a residential zone. No licenses have been issued to the suspect, tenants or property owners. The suspect will face criminal charges for Maintaining a Drug House; the illegal Cultivation of Cannabis; over 6 plants and the illegal Sales/Transportation of Cannabis. He was booked at the High Desert Detention Center.
