This is expected to bring significant impacts to our region, starting with areas of mixed precipitation today and tonight, then significant snowfall during Wednesday. Consideration should be given to no unnecessary travel Wednesday afternoon and evening when the heaviest snow with hourly accumulation rates of 1 to 3 inches should occur. ...WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM THIS EVENING TO 8 PM EDT WEDNESDAY...
* WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 6 to 12 inches are expected.
* WHERE...The Southern Poconos and the Lehigh Valley.
* WHEN...From 6 PM this evening to 8 PM EDT Wednesday. Some areas of mixed precipitation should develop this afternoon, then become all snow tonight and Wednesday when it becomes heavy at times. The snow tapers off Wednesday evening.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Plan on slippery road conditions, including during this evenings commute. For Wednesday, plan on very difficult travel conditions especially in the afternoon, including during the Wednesday evening commute when snowfall rates of 1 to 3 inches per hour are expected. Significant reductions in visibility are expected. Power outages are possible on Wednesday. Northeast to north winds will gust 20 to 30 mph at times.
