Details: On March 17, 2018 at 3:42 PM, CPD officers were dispatched to a residence in the 1000 block of Hanna Avenue regarding two suspects who had brandished a knife and assaulted a resident in the area. Officers contacted the victim who reported being approached by two male suspects who were both brandishing knives. The two male suspects chased the victim on foot, while holding the knives in their hands. The victim was able to get away from the two suspects and officers were able to detain and arrest the suspects when they arrived on scene. Based on the information officers gathered during this investigation this incident is believed to be gang related. The two male suspects are 16 years old. Officers did not locate the weapons used in the assault, but one of the suspects was found in possession of approximately 1.6 grams of suspected methamphetamine. The two male juvenile suspects were later booked into the Kings County Juvenile Center where they are being held on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, brandishing a knife in a threatening manner and participating in a street gang/conspiracy to commit gang related crime. Additionally, the second suspect was also charged with possession of a controlled substance.
