Shooting incident area of Lemon Island. One adult male wounded. Circumstances are under investigation. 
At approximately 9:30 a.m. Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to the area of Lemon Island to a report of a shooting incident. When deputies arrived, they learned that an adult male subject sustained at least one gunshot wound during the incident, one of which to his shoulder. Emergency Medical Services responded to treat the wounded man and have since transported him to the Beaufort Memorial Hospital.
Sheriff's Office investigators are currently on-scene looking into the circumstances surrounding the incident and whether or not there was a second subject inolved in the shooting. There is no public safety threat or any update on the wounded subject's condition at this time.
Anyone with information regarding the shooting is encouraged to call Sheriff's Office Emergency Dispatch 9-1-1 or CrimeStoppers 1-888-CrimeSC if wishing to remain anonymous and for possible reward. Additional information will be released when available.
