Vehicle verses Pedestrian accident.
On Friday, March 16, 2018 at approximately 3:55PM, Deputies from the Windsor Police Department were dispatched to the area of Old Redwood Hwy at Third Street for a vehicle verses pedestrian accident. On Deputies arrival, they located Jose Mata Rodriguez, a 19 year Windsor resident. Rodriguez was lying in the southbound lane of Old Redwood Hwy just S/of Third Street. He had suffered serious injuries. Deputies stabilized Rodriguez and requested an ambulance. Rodriguez was transported by ambulance to Memorial Hospital. The driver of the car (a black Ford Mustang) that hit Rodriguez had stopped right after the accident. The driver was identified as Tyler Peterson, a 19 year old Windsor resident. Peterson was cooperating with the Windsor Police. No alcohol and/or drugs were suspected. It appears Rodriguez was walking from the South to the North side of Old Redwood Hwy at Third Street in the crosswalk. Peterson was travelling S/B on Old Redwood Hwy in the #1 lane. Peterson struck Rodriguez with his car. Deputies had to close S/B Traffic on Old Redwood Hwy from Lakewood Drive to Third Street for over thirty minutes, which caused a traffic backup. The accident is under investigation and if you witnessed the actual collision and have not provided a statement please call Deputy Don Fletcher at (707) 838-1234.
