Deputies assist a victim in need of medical attention

INCIDENT: Crisis Intervention/Psyche Evaluation
LOCATION: Antelope Valley Learning Academy, 12100 Palmdale Rd. #B6, Adelanto
VICTIM: Adult male, 18 years of age, of Adelanto
SUMMARY:
On Thursday, March 15, 2018, at 11:25 am, deputies from the Victor Valley Station responded to the Antelope Valley Learning Academy in Adelanto reference a student cutting himself with a large knife in the school parking lot. Deputies Abernathy, Hayes, Olivares, Otey and Gates arrived on scene and located the victim with lacerations on his arms.
Deputies were able to convince the victim to drop the knife. Medical personnel responded to the location, rendered medical attention and transported the victim to a local area hospital for evaluation.
Deputies were able to de-escalate the situation and get emergency medical care to the victim. No other students or deputies were injured during the incident.
