Opening Night For 2018 Citizens Academy

March 14, 2018 marked the first night of the Simi Valley Police Department Citizens Academy. Marking this special night was Simi Valley Mayor Bob Huber welcoming the citizen students and thanking them for their willingness to be an active part of our community. The 27 citizen students in the class will experience instruction from representatives of the Simi Valley Police Department, Ventura County District Attorney’s Office, and other law enforcement agencies that work in partnership with the Simi Valley Police Department. This unique ten week class gives the attendees the opportunity to learn about and experience areas like the 9-1-1 communication center, narcotic enforcement, patrol operations, police canines, investigation bureaus, Special Weapons And Tactics & Crisis Negotiation Team, and other cooperative branches of the criminal justice system. In addition, students will experience a ride-a-long with a Simi Valley Officer.

For the next nine weeks, the police department will provide you with the progress of the class so you can share in their unique experiences.
