BTPD Arrests Juvenile for School Threats

On March 13, 2018, at approximately 3:00 pm, the Burlington Township Police Department arrested a 15 year old male from Mount Holly, NJ for making threatening comments on social media that targeted the Burlington Township School District.

The arrest was the result of an investigation that began earlier this morning when school district officials reported the social media threat to the police department. The school district and police department coordinated to increase security within the schools while the police department’s school resource officers and detectives worked to identify the source of the threat.

The juvenile has been charged with terroristic threats and false public alarm. A decision regarding his release or detention is pending with the appropriate juvenile authority at the time of this release.

The Burlington Township Police Department prioritizes the safety of our school district’s students and staff. As such, we will aggressively investigate all threats in order to determine their source, assess their credibility, mitigate any danger, and safeguard the safety of the students, the district personnel, and our community as a whole. The Burlington Township Police Department would like to commend the students, parents and school officials who quickly reported this matter, allowing us to bring the matter to a safe and efficient resolution.
