Sunday, March 4, 2018
Prowler
Location: 1700 Block of Graham Lane
A resident contacted Public Safety Dispatchers regarding a residential burglary in progress on the 1700 block of Graham Lane. According to the reporting party, a male subject was in the backyard attempting to gain entry to the residence.
Officers arrived and set up a perimeter to contain the suspect. The suspect jumped over the rear fence onto San Tomas Expressway and into awaiting officers. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Monday, March 5, 2018
Petty Theft
Location: 3000 Block of El Camino Real
A victim was shopping at a store on the 3000 block of El Camino Real between 1700 and 1800 hour. The victim left a purse unattended for a short period of time. Upon return, the purse was missing and unable to be located with the assistance of store employees. The suspect(s) remain at large.

Identification Theft
Location: 2500 Block of El Camino Real
An officer was dispatched to a hotel on the 2500 block of El Camino Real on the report of found property. According to the reporting party, the hotel cleaning service located garbage bags full of mail and cannabis while cleaning a room.
Upon police arrival, the reporting party informed the responding officer that several hotel guests complained of a strong odor of cannabis from a guest room. The odor was confirmed by hotel staff and the guest was asked to leave by hotel management on 3/4/18 at approximately 1808 hours.
The officer collected two large bags of mail, a hat, cell phone, an identification card and a package containing cannabis. The suspect(s) remain at large. This investigation is ongoing.

Petty Theft
Location: 2000 Block of Newhall Street
On 3/6/18 between 0200 hours and 0320 hours, a petty theft occurred on the 2000 block of Newhall Street. An unknown suspect(s) stole an unlocked bicycle, valued at $136, from the victim’s balcony. The suspect(s) remain at large.

Residential Burglary
Location: 3400 Santa Barbara Avenue
Between 0930-1930 hours, an unknown suspect(s) entered a residence on the 3400 block of Santa Barbara Avenue through an unlocked garage door. The suspect(s) rummaged through the victim's belongings and stole property. The suspect(s) remain at large.

Thursday, March 8, 2018
Petty Theft
Location: 3900 Block of Rivermark
An officer was dispatched to a hotel on the 3900 block of Rivermark on the report of a petty theft.
An unidentified male suspect was captured on a video surveillance stealing a battery powered hand drill and two portable radios from a maintenance cart just outside the front lobby, valued at approximately $350. The suspect was in the company of another individual when he committed the theft and both parties remain at large.

Friday, March 9, 2018
Grand Theft
Location: 3600 Block of Juliette Lane
An officer was dispatched to the 3600 block of Juliette Lane on the report of a theft of an electronic bicycle valued at approximately $3,500. A suspect matching the description of the male suspect and riding a bicycle was observed by the responding officer at San Tomas Expressway near Monroe Street. The officer initiated a traffic enforcement stop, however, the suspect fled. The suspect was later stopped at Cabrillo Avenue and San Tomas Expressway. He was in possession of burglary tools. He was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Weapons
Location: Westbound El Camino Real and Lafayette Street
Officers observed a vehicle traveling on El Camino Real at a high rate of speed. The driver lost control, collided with another moving vehicle and rolled over numerous times near Lafayette Street.
Three of the four occupants were juveniles and were detained at the scene. A fourth unknown suspect fled and was not located. A search of the vehicle revealed a loaded stolen handgun as well as two additional loaded handgun magazines.
The juveniles were transported to a local hospital as trauma patients with non-life threatening injuries. The juveniles were issued Juvenile Crime Reports and their parents were notified.
The occupants of the victim vehicle were not injured.

Saturday, March 10, 2018
Driving Under the Influence
Location: Kiely Boulevard at El Camino Real
Officers were dispatched to a traffic collision involving two vehicles on Kiely Boulevard at El Camino Real. After arriving at the scene, one of the male drivers displayed objective symptoms of alcohol intoxication. He failed to properly perform the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. The suspect performed a preliminary alcohol screening which indicated he had a blood alcohol level of 0.37% and 0.35% respectively. He was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Violation of Restraining Order
Location: 3700 Block of Tamarack Lane
Officers were dispatched to the 3700 block of Tamarack Lane on the report of a restraining order violation.
Officers contacted the suspect over the phone and asked the suspect to come outside. The suspect refused. For precautionary measures, a crisis entry team was established, which included the presence of an armored rescue vehicle.
The victim exited the apartment and confirmed this was not a hostage situation.
After learning the victim was not in danger, officers decided not to force entry and left the scene. This incident was documented for the District Attorney’s Office for charges.

Great things can happen with residents and law enforcement work together! Social media should not be used to report crime or incidents as it is not monitored 24/7. To proactively solve community issues, call 9-1-1 in an emergency. Non-emergency situations can be reported by calling 408-615-5580. By doing so, trained professionals can evaluate the situation and deploy resources as appropriate. If Police Officers are aware of an issue in a timely manner, the incident may get resolved, it helps SCPD identify trends and may prevent future crimes.
