The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

March 8th

0729 Hours: Officer Wallace investigated two auto burglaries at the Double Tree Hotel, 39900 Balentine Drive. The loss is unknown at this time.

1848 Hours: Officer Herbert investigated the theft of a green 1999 Honda Civic (CA License #7GLR035) at NewPark Mall.

2026 Hours: Officer Palacio contacted and arrested a 26-year-old Dublin male for driving under the influence during a traffic stop on the 5400 block of Thornton Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

2051 Hours: Officer Rivas investigated a package theft on the 6300 block of Joaquin Murieta Avenue.

March 9th

1422 Hours: Officer Herbert investigated a grand theft at Bengal Tiger Foods, 5438 Central Avenue. The loss is clothing, jewelry and food items.

1613 Hours: Officer Wallace contacted and arrested a 22-year-old Newark male for his outstanding warrant on the 6900 block of Cabernet Street. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

1900 Hours: Officer R. Johnson issued a citation to a 32-year-old Modesto female for unauthorized handicapped placard use at NewPark Mall. The placard was seized for evidence.

1929 Hours: Officer Rivera investigated an auto burglary at Ranch 99 Market 35219 Newark Boulevard. The loss is luggage.

March 10

0757 Hours: Officer Damewood investigated a stolen gold 2000 Chevrolet Silverado (CA License #HAGUAYO) on the 35200 block of Newark Boulevard.

0901 Hours: Officer Mapes investigated the theft of a beige 2005 GMC Pickup (CA License #7X04997) on the 8300 block of Mayhews Landing Road.

0915 Hours: Officer Pacheco investigated a report of a wheel stolen from a vehicle parked at the corner of Parada Street and Stevenson Boulevard.

1107 Hours: Officer Damewood recovered a reported stolen 2006 Ford Econoline Van on the 5700 block of Byington Drive.

1115 Hours: Officers D. Johnson and Jackman were on a walking security check of transient camps when they conducted a pedestrian stop near SR-84 and I-880. A 29-year-old transient male was arrested for his outstanding warrants and subsequently booked into the Fremont Jail.

1319 Hours: Officers D. Johnson and Jackman were on a walking security check of transient camps when they conducted a pedestrian stop near SR-84 and Lake Boulevard. A 52-year-old transient female was arrested for her outstanding warrants and subsequently booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

1647 Hours: Officer Horst contacted and arrested a 34-year-old Fremont female for her outstanding warrant during a traffic stop on the 35200 block of Newark Boulevard. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

1810 Hours: Officer Slavazza investigated an auto burglary on the 6000 block of Birch Place. There is no loss at this time.

2048 Hours: Officer Slavazza investigated an auto burglary in the upper parking lot at NewPark Mall. The loss was a purse and sunglasses.

0322 Hours: Officer Slavazza conducted a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle weaving between lanes of traffic on the 36300 block of Cedar Boulevard. Officer Slavazza determined the driver, a 38-year-old Redwood City male was driving under the influence of alcohol. The suspect was booked into Fremont Jail.

March 11th

0841 Hours: Officer Jackman investigated a burglary at The Salvation Army, 36700 Newark Boulevard. The loss is instruments and musical equipment.

0925 Hours: Officers conducted a probation search on the 6500 block of Normandy Drive. A 42-year-old Newark male was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia. A 32-yearold Oakland male was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and possession of burglary tools. A 45-year-old male was arrested for possession of a controlled substance. The suspects were issued citations and released at the scene.

1109 Hours: Officer D. Johnson contacted and arrested a 40-year-old Newark male for his outstanding warrant while conducting a security check on the 6700 block of Central Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

1602 Hours: Officer D. Johnson investigated a theft at Laser Tag and Maze, 5759 Stevenson Boulevard. The Owner called the police after a suspect entered an office and stole keys, and money.

2217 Hours: Officer Rivera contacted and arrested a 30-year-old Newark Male for driving under the influence on Ardenwood Boulevard at Keiser Drive. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

0343 Hours: Officer Herbert contacted and arrested a 29-year-old Santa Clara male for his outstanding warrant on the 6200 block of Montcalm Avenue. The suspect was issued a citation and released.
