Deputies arrest two suspects for burglary; the suspects were found to have stolen numerous Marvel collectible items

DATE/TIME: February 22, 2018/ 6:00 p.m.

INCIDENT: Burglary

LOCATION: 10700 block of Arrow Route, Rancho Cucamonga

SUSPECTS: Ian Florez, 35-year-old from San Bernardino
Matthew Rinke, 37-year-old from San Bernardino


SUMMARY:

On February 22, 2018, at 6:00 p.m., deputies from the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department responded to a storage facility regarding a burglary. The victim was made aware his storage units were burglarized after he received information several of his Marvel collectibles were listed for sale on the internet. Some of the stolen items were used as movie props in Marvel movies. Ian Florez was identified as one of the suspects after providing his information to interested buyers for additional sales. The Detective Bureau took over the investigation and developed additional investigative leads.

An arrest warrant was issued for Florez and, he was arrested on February 24, 2018, by the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department Specialized Enforcement Division. Florez was booked into the West Valley Detention Center for his arrest warrant with a bail of $25,000. He was also booked for additional warrants.

Through further investigation, detectives learned of a second suspect identified as Matthew Rinke. On March 7, 2018, Rinke was detained during a traffic stop after leaving his residence. The detectives served a search warrant at a storage facility in the City of Colton where Rinke rented a unit. A total of $1.4 million of the victim’s stolen property was recovered.

Rinke was subsequently arrested and booked into the West Valley Detention Center with a $25,000 bail. He was also booked for additional warrants.
