Narrative:
On February 7, 2018, deputies from the Thousand Oaks Police Department responded to a report of a storage unit burglary in the 100 block of Duesenberg Dr, Thousand Oaks.  During the initial investigation, patrol deputies viewed surveillance footage that captured the crime.  The surveillance footage showed one male and two females break into a storage unit and remove property.  Deputies were able to identify one of the females as Susan Cartwright.

The surveillance video was turned over to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Crime Analysis Unit and they identified the male subject as Taylor Basler and the second female as Rene Gutierrez.  Investigators located Basler’s residence in the 900 block of Calle Brusca, Thousand Oaks, and obtained a search warrant for his home.

On March 8, 2018, at approximately 0730 hours, investigators served the search warrant at Basler’s home.  Both Basler and Cartwright were inside the home and arrested for commercial burglary.  During a search of the home, investigators recovered several items that were taken during the burglary.  Taylor Basler and Susan Cartwright were booked into the Ventura County Jail without incident.

Detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in locating Rene Gutierrez.  Anyone with information regarding her whereabouts is asked to contact Detective Adam Garnier or call Ventura County Crime Stoppers.
