On Friday, March 2, 2018, at approximately 9:37 pm, the Manhattan Beach Police Department received a call of a sexual assault.  Three female teenagers were walking through the Von’s Grocery Store parking lot at 410 Manhattan Beach Blvd. when they observed a male suspect masturbating in his vehicle.  The suspect called out to the girls but they ignored him and continued walking into the store.  The girls stayed in the store until they thought the suspect had left the area.  The girls then continued walking south on Valley Drive from the grocery store.

As the girls approached the area of 2nd Place and Valley Drive, the suspect was parked on 2nd Place west of Valley Drive.  The girls walked past 2nd Place but did not notice the suspect who was sitting in his vehicle.  As the girls walked past him, the suspect got out of his vehicle, ran up behind them and shoved one of the girls to the ground.  The suspect attempted to sexually assault her but one of the other girls began to punch and kick the suspect until he released her.  All three girls fled the area on foot and called 911.  As seen in the video, the suspect got back into his vehicle and drove off south on Valley Drive.

The suspect is described as Middle-Eastern or Asian male, thin, dark skin, 20-30 years old, wearing a red and black flannel shirt.  The suspect’s vehicle is described as a dark colored 4-door sedan with an Uber sticker on the front passenger side window and an Uber sticker on the rear passenger side window.

At approximately 9:50 pm, the Manhattan Beach Police Department received a call of a male exposing his genitals in the area of 35th and Flournoy.  The suspect’s description and vehicle description are the same as the sexual assault at 2nd Street and Valley Drive.

Attached is surveillance video of the suspect and the suspect’s car.  The video shows an Uber sticker in the front passenger side window and a second Uber sicker on the rear passenger side window.  We are asking residents who live in between the 1000 block of Valley Drive to the 100 block of Valley Drive as well as the 3300 block of Flournoy Road to the 3500 block of Flournoy Road to check their home video surveillance to see if they captured the suspect or the suspect’s vehicle on video.

If you have any information in regard to this sexual assault, please call Detective Aleina Smith at (310) 802-5133 or the Manhattan Beach Police Department Tip Line at (310) 802-5171.
