INCIDENT:     Cold Case Homicide Trial Verdict     
 
LOCATION:   12600block of Baseline Avenue, Rancho Cucamonga
 
VICTIM:          Robert Goodson, 34 years old (at time of death), resident of Rancho Cucamonga
 
SUSPECT:      Eddie Evans, 45 years old (today),resident of Everett, Washington
 
SUMMARY:   
On February 16,2000 at 5:26 p.m., Rancho Cucamonga Station deputies were dispatched to a 911 call of an injured male at a residence on Baseline Avenue in Rancho Cucamonga.  Upon arrival, deputies found Robert Goodson deceased on his living room couch from an apparent shotgun wound to the head.
During the 2000 homicide investigation, Eddie Evans was identified as a person of interest.  By the end of 2000, the investigation was exhausted and remained unsolved.
 
In 2017, the case was re-investigated by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, Homicide Cold Case Team.  The team is comprised of Detective Nick Hartleben, Detective Adam Salsberry, Investigator Gerrit Tesselaar, District Attorney Investigator Steve Shumway and Deputy District Attorneys Lisa Crane and Denise Yoakum.
 
On May 31, 2017, Evans was interviewed in Everett, Washington.  At the conclusion of the interview, Evans was arrested for the murder of Robert Goodson.  Evans was booked at the Snohomish County Jail for PC 187-Murder.  Bail was set at $1,000,000.00. Cold Case Homicide detectives extradited Evans from Washington to San Bernardino County and booked in the San Bernardino County Jail. 
 
On February 5, 2018, Lead Deputy District Attorney Lisa Crane took Evans to trial for Robert Goodson’s murder.  On March 6, 2018, the jury found Eddie Evans guilty of First Degree murder.   Evans will be sentenced at a later date.
