“Police Blotter” Highlights – Ending March 4, 2018
 
GRAND THEFT
On Monday, Feb. 26th, between 1 p.m. and 1:20 p.m., power tools were stolen from a work truck in the 30000 block of Industrial Parkway.
 
VEHICLE THEFT ARRESTS
On Thursday, March 1st, around 4:40 p.m., Ofc. Blanchard initiated a traffic stop in the area of Industrial Parkway and Whipple Rd. The vehicle was determined to be stolen out of Hayward. A search of the vehicle yielded methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, items indicative of sales, a shaved key, and numerous credit cards and checks that did not belong to either occupant. Luis Romero, a 52-year-old Hayward resident, was arrested for vehicle theft, burglary tools, and various drug-related offenses. Vanessa Santoyo, a 34-year-old Hayward resident, was arrested for vehicle theft, the misappropriation of found property, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
 
On Sunday, March 4th, around 2 p.m., Ofc. Bellotti located a stolen vehicle in the area of Alvarado Niles Rd. and Decoto Rd. Roman Navarro, a 24-year-old Newark resident, was arrested for vehicle theft and the possession of burglary tools.
 
PROACTIVE ENFORCEMENT
On Saturday, March 3rd, around 12 a.m., Ofc. Olson conducted a vehicle stop in the area of Amaral St. and Pratt Ave. A probation search of the vehicle yielded a large amount of methamphetamine and evidence indicative of sales. Ronald Ledesma, a 39-year-old Union City resident, was arrested.
 
On Saturday, March 3rd, around 2:20 a.m., officers were dispatched to Union Landing on the report of a suspicious vehicle. A female suspect ran from officers when they attempted to contact her. After apprehension, she lied about her identity, and was in possession of numerous checks, ID cards, and documents that did not belong to her. Daniela Rodriguez, a 23-year-old Union City resident, was arrested for forgery, the possession of stolen property, resisting police, giving false ID to an officer, and three active warrants.
 
ROBBERY
On Sunday, March 4th, around 6:15 p.m., Ofc. Parodi was dispatched to the 1700 block of Decoto Rd. on the report of a robbery. Several suspects entered the business and forcefully stole a victim’s laptop, then fled on foot. A witness followed them to the BART station and detained them until police arrived. The laptop was recovered and returned to the victim. A 13-year-old male out of Hayward, 15-year-old male out of Oakland, and 14-year-old male out of San Pablo were all arrested for robbery and conspiracy, and released to adults with a Notice to Appear.
 
BURGLARIES AND CAR THEFTS
 
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES
From Monday, Feb. 26th through Sunday, March 4th, there were three reported residential burglaries:

  • 31100 block of Brier St.: Occurred on Wednesday, Feb. 28th, between 4:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. A window was broken, and the loss included cash.
  • 800 block of Decoto Rd.: Occurred between Monday, Feb. 26th, and Wednesday, Feb. 28th. The method of entry is unknown, and the loss included electronics.
  • 5400 block of New Harbor Way: Occurred sometime between Feb. 24th and March 4th. Two suspects stole several items from a home while renting a room. Richard Morales, a 27-year-old Oakland resident, and Stephanie Heckman, a 22-year-old Hayward resident, were both arrested for burglary, the possession of stolen property, and various drug-related offenses.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARIES
From Monday, Feb. 26th through Sunday, March 4th, there was one reported commercial burglary:
  • 2600 block of Decoto Rd.: Occurred between Monday, Feb. 26th at 8 p.m., and Tuesday, Feb. 27th at 9 a.m. The front glass door was smashed, and the loss included clothing.
AUTO BURGLARIES AND VEHICLE THEFTS
From Monday, Feb. 26th through Sunday, March 4th, there were 13 reported auto burglaries. Nine of them occurred at the Union Landing shopping center, and three occurred in residential areas. In many cases, the burglaries involved backpacks, electronics and purses that were left in plain view on the seats or floorboards.

From Monday, Feb. 26th through Sunday, March 4th, there were two reported vehicle thefts. As of the time of this report, one of the vehicles has been recovered.
