Advisory

Statement of Chief Raymond Hayducka

7PM WEDNESDAY Statement of Chief Raymond Hayducka –

This is an unprecedented snowstorm, it has crippled our roadways. Fallen trees and heavy snow have blocked most roads and caused widespread power outages. There are more than 100 trees that have fallen. Our command center is working on generator power. Our 911 phone lines have been inundated with calls. We are currently handling dozens of calls.

There is some unbelievable work being done by police, fire, EMS and public works crews. We were very lucky today - one officer narrowly escaped serious injury when a tree crashed through his windshield. Another officer became trapped when electrical wires fell on both sides of her patrol car. Public work crews have braved falling trees around them to get stuck motorists free.

It will take days for this cleanup to occur. I ask anyone with non-emergency calls to call (732) 329-4646. We will work with our County and State Office of Emergency partners to address all the needs of our community.
