Upcoming UCPD Traffic Unit Events

This year, the Union City Police Department’s Traffic Unit secured a grant from the Office of Traffic Safety. The funds from this grant allows our traffic division to offer some extra services and traffic education/enforcement over the course of 2018. In the next few months, we have the following events coming up:

The Distracted Driver Campaign (The entire month of April)- Stay off those cellphones! Try not to eat while driving. Avoid anything that may take your mind off of traffic and the environment around you while you are on the roadway.

California Teen Driver Safety (April 1 through April 7) UCPD Traffic Officer Travis Solverson will deliver a Driver Safety presentations to students at Logan High School.

Bicyclist & Pedestrian Safety Month (The entire month of May)- This month isn’t just about bicyclists and pedestrians getting educated on laws regarding their safety, it’s also about educating drivers regarding laws that protect bicyclists and pedestrians.

Extra DUI Enforcement- The weekend of St. Patrick’s Day will see a few extra officers on the street keeping all of us safe from drunk drivers.

The National “Click It Or Ticket” Campaign- (Last week of May through the first week of June)- Seatbelts save lives. Wear yours!

With the privilege of driving a car comes great responsibility. Please drive responsibly in order to keep yourself and those around you safe.
