The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

March 4th

0924 Hours: Officer Mapes investigated a burglary at Le Lan Salon, 36602 Newark Boulevard. The loss is a safe.

0956 Hours: Officer D. Johnson contacted and arrested a 38-year-old transient male for his outstanding warrants on the 35400 block of Newark Boulevard. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

1007 Hours: Officer Pacheco contacted and arrested a 55-year-old Newark male for possession of drug paraphernalia on the 5800 block of Ravenwood Avenue. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

1439 Hours: Officers responded to a disturbance on the 6200 block of Mayhews Landing Road. A 46-year-old Newark male was arrested for violation of a restraining order and probation violation. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

March 5th

0952 Hours: Officer R. Johnson recovered a 1998 Honda reported stolen out of Fremont on Thornton Avenue at Locust Street.

0952 Hours: Community Service Officer Verandes recovered a 2015 Hyundai reported stolen out of Phoenix, AZ on the 36900 block of Locust Street.

1007 Hours: Officer Mapes contacted and arrested a 45-year-old Newark male for his outstanding warrants on the 36900 block of Locust Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

1033 Hours: Officer D. Johnson contacted a 49-year-old Hayward male and convinced him to turn himself in at the Newark Police Department for his outstanding warrant. The suspect responded to the Police Station and was subsequently booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

1144 Hours: Officer Damewood investigated an auto burglary at NewPark Mall. The loss is a backpack containing a Samsung Tablet.

1252 Hours: Officer Jackman investigated a theft where the victim was scammed out of $1550 when he tried to purchase a puppy online.

2114 Hours: Officer Geser investigated a vehicle verses fire hydrant hit and run accident on the 7900 block of Gateway Boulevard.

0118 Hours: Officers responded to Pick-n-Pull, 7400 Mowry Avenue for a burglary in process. A 46-year-old Oakland male was arrested for theft of personal property, possession of burglary tools, probation violation and possession of a stolen vehicle. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail. Thank you to the Fremont Police Department for their assistance with this arrest.

March 6th

0759 Hours: Officer Palacio investigated the theft of a white 2012 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Van (CA license #27108B2) on the 37000 block of Cherry Street.

1058 Hours: Officer Rivas investigated an auto burglary at Starbucks, 5741 Stevenson Boulevard. The loss is a backpack, Hard Drive and Dell Latitude 5580 laptop computer.

1339 Hours: Officer Losier contacted and arrested a 39-year-old Oakland male for his outstanding warrant and possession of drug paraphernalia and a 39-year-old Oakland female for possession of drug paraphernalia on the 35000 block of Newark Boulevard. Both suspects were issued citations and released at the scene.

1416 Hours: Officer Johnson contacted and arrested a 30-year-old Newark male for driving on a suspended license, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of false identification and possession of brass knuckles. A 28-year-old Newark female was also arrested for possession of burglary tools and permitting an unlicensed driver to operate her vehicle. Both suspects were booked into the Fremont Jail. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
