5:30PM TUESDAY WINTER STORM UPDATE –

There are already some cancellations and closing as a result of the approaching storm.

FORECAST -

Update on Coastal Storm...Things remain on track for the start of precipitation tonight as we expect some light to occasionally moderate snow. While pavements struggle to accumulate, steadier bursts of snow could lead to slushy coatings (0.5 - 1.5" on colder surfaces).

For tomorrow morning, precipitation becomes progressively steadier. While snow is the main precipitation type, a bit more rain looks to mix in with the snow, especially in our Township. As the coastal low strengthens and pulls in colder air, everyone is over to snow by midday, which looks to fall heavily (1-3"/hr rates) thru the afternoon.

The steadiest snow lasts thru sunset, gradually tapering off for good 8 - 11 PM. While totals have not changed in the update this afternoon, we are increasingly concerned that more mixing occurs during the morning hours on Wednesday. Due to the heavy, wet nature of the snow, along with gusty winds expected (not as bad as the last coastal storm), there is a threat of downed trees and power outages.
