Good Samaritan stabbed after stopping to help at the scene of a traffic accident

INCIDENT: Suspect arrested for allegedly stabbing Good Samaritan
LOCATION: Cornelian Rd / Deep Creek Rd, unincorporated Apple Valley
SUSPECT(S): Stephanie Koel / 34yr old resident of Victorville

SUMMARY: On Sunday, March 4, 2018, at about 7:15pm, deputies from the Victor Valley Sheriff Station responded to the intersection of Cornelain Road and Deep Creek Road in unincorporated Apple Valley regarding a subject who had been stabbed. During the course of their investigation deputies learned the victim and other motorist's stopped at the scene of a single vehicle roll over to offer assistance. The victim contacted Stephanie Koel of Victorville, who requested the victim help her get her vehicle back on all four wheels so she could leave the scene. The victim believed Koel was possibly under the influence of alcohol and or drugs and asked Koel to remain at the scene until deputies arrived. Koel produced a stabbing instrument and allegedly stabbed the victim on the upper torso and fled the scene on foot.
With the assistance of Sheriff's Aviation, Koel was located and taken into custody without further incident. The victim was airlifted to a local hospital for his injuries and is expected to make a full recovery. Koel was subsequently arrested and booked into the High Desert Detention Center for PC 245(a)(1) - Assault with a deadly weapon and has since posted bail.
