Winter Storm Watch in Effect for Town of West New York thru Friday Evening

Good Evening, 

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the Town of West New York until Friday Evening. 

A nor-easter is on track to hit New Jersey beginning late Thursday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. A high wind watch is in effect for Hudson county along with a snow warning for northeast New Jersey. The National Weather Service is providing hour-by-hour updates, with the latest report to expect 1-2 inches of rain, and 2-5 inches of snow.

This storm is categorized as a ‘major’ nor-easter that will likely bring strong winds, coastal flooding, heavy rain and snow, and inland flooding. Town of West New York Mayor Felix E. Roque, M.D. issued the following warning, “In the interest of security, I’m asking that all West New York residents stay home and avoid unnecessary travel. Our Police and Fire Departments are on standby for any issues that may occur to protect our citizens, and we ask that any power outages be reported to PSE&G immediately. I can’t stress enough the importance of safety and security. Please urge your family and friends to stay home.”

Residents in need of non-emergency assistance may call the West New York Police Department Command Center at 201-295-5000. For all emergencies, please call 911.
