#LASD Homicide Det Investigate Dead Person Found in Burning Motorhome, uninc Gardena

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) Compton Station deputies responded to a “Vehicle on Fire” call. The vehicle (motorhome) was parked on the northwest corner of Compton Boulevard and Avalon Boulevard, in the unincorporated city of Gardena.
 
The incident occurred on Wednesday, February 28, 2018, at approximately 3:30 a.m. A passerby observed the front of a parked motorhome engulfed in flames and immediately called 911.  Compton Station deputies along with the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to the scene.  Fire department personnel extinguished the fire and discovered a male, Black adult unresponsive inside the motorhome.  The male was pronounced dead at the scene.
 
LASD Arson & Explosives Detail investigators responded and determined the fire originated in the front part of the motorhome. The cause of the fire remains undetermined.
 
Preliminary investigation by responding Homicide detectives revealed the fire appeared to be accidental and no foul play was suspected.
 
The investigation is ongoing and there is no additional information available at this time.
