The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

February 22nd

1157 Hours: Officer Wang responded to the Residence Inn, 35466 Dumbarton Court to investigate potential fraud activity. The investigation is ongoing.

1412 Hours: Officer Fredstrom contacted and arrested a 48-year-old Newark female for possession of drug paraphernalia and for driving without a license during a routine traffic stop on Jarvis Avenue at Cardiff Street. Office Fredstom also arrested a 61-year-old Hayward male for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. Both suspects were issued citations and released at the scene.

February 23rd

1440 Hours: Officers recovered a reported stolen 2017 Ford Fusion on the 6500 block of Normandy Drive. While in the process of documenting the recovery, a second reported stolen 2017 Ford Fusion drove past the Officers. Officers were able to stop the vehicle. The driver, a 32-year-old Newark female was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle and driving without a license. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

1441 Hours: Officer Hunter investigated a check forgery incident where the victim stated someone had obtained one of their blank checks and cashed it. The loss is in excess of $700.00.

2140 Hours: Officer Musantry contacted and arrested a 26-year-old Fremont female for her outstanding warrant during a routine traffic stop on the 2900 block of Newpark Mall Road. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

February 24th

0807 Hours: Officer Palacio an auto burglary on the 39900 block of Balentine Drive. The loss is DVD’s and audio equipment.

0934 Hours: Officer D. Johnson investigated a theft of a rear license plate from the victim’s vehicle on the 36700 block of Silk Court.

2138 Hours: Officer Piquette contacted and arrested a 24-year-old Newark male for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and an outstanding warrant on the 7200 block of Thornton Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

2234 Hours: Officer Rivera contacted and arrested a 36-year-old Newark male for possession of drug paraphernalia during a pedestrian stop on Thornton Avenue near Magnolia Street. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

2238 Hours: Officers responded to a report of an injury collision on Thornton Avenue at Maple Street. A 22-year-old Fremont male was contacted and arrested for carrying a concealed handgun on his person. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

0023 Hours: Officer Rivera investigated three auto burglaries at Oasis Fitness, 35145 Newark Boulevard. The loss was cash from two of the vehicles.

February 25th

0758 Hours: Officer Palacio investigated a theft of a package from the 5100 block of Dupont Avenue.

0807 Hours: Officer Mavrakis investigated an auto burglary at Jack’s Restaurant, 2084 Newpark Mall Drive. The loss was miscellaneous tools from a locked box.

1328 Hours: Officer Pacheco investigated a hit and run accident on the 3000 block of Newpark Mall Drive.

1607 Hours: Officer Palacio contacted and arrested a 22-year-old Newark male for violation of a court order on the 5600 block of Portsmouth Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

1647 hours: Officer D. Johnson documented a minor injury traffic collision on Chapman Drive at Cedar Boulevard that he witnessed. The injured parties were treated at the scene.

0027 Hours: Officer Slavazza responded to a solo car crash collision in the Big Lots parking lot, 5453 Thornton Avenue. The driver had left the scene, but was located around the corner and subsequently arrested for driving under the influence. The suspect was issued a citation and released to a sober friend.
