An Important Message from Duarte USD Superintendent, Allan Mucerino;
Dear Duarte Community;
Both an incident involving a current Duarte High School student, which was investigated and dismissed as a non-threat on Friday, February 23, as well as a Snapchat message indicating a threat of a school shooting originating from another state, have been making their way around Duarte High School via social media. The Snapchat message has gone viral and continues to be shared on social media in several states. In working closely with law enforcement officials, we have no reason to suspect that there is any threat to Duarte High School or any other school in Duarte, for that matter. We will take the extra precaution of increasing police presence in and around Duarte High School tomorrow. We will also continue to work closely with law enforcement to monitor future developments and provide updates.The students, parents, staff and members of our community who acted swiftly to notify our team are to be commended. We asked you, “if you see something, say something” and you did. Thank you!
Respectfully,
Allan Mucerino
