Man Arrested for the Second Time Within 24 Hours for Driving With Suspended License

Suffolk County Police arrested a man for the second time within 24 hours for driving with a suspended, revoked and expired driver’s license.

Ralph R. Knowles was driving a 2010 Dodge Caravan on West 3rd Street, West Babylon, N.Y., at approximately 11:55 a.m. when he was pulled over by a First Precinct officer during a traffic stop. Knowles indicated to the officer he had been arrested the day before.

Knowles, 55, of West Babylon, N.Y., was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 1st Degree, an E Felony and the vehicle was impounded. Knowles will be held overnight at the First Precinct and is scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on February 25.

During the prior incident on February 23, 2018, at approximately 4:30 p.m., Knowles was arrested and charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 1st Degree, an E Felony, when he was driving the same 2010 Dodge Caravan on Straight Path in Wyandanch, N.Y., and failed to signal while changing lanes. It was determined Knowles was not the registered owner of the vehicle. A check on his driver's license showed it had been suspended 46 times, had expired in June 1986 and was revoked in June 1987.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
