Local high school student detained for making threats; serious consequences for “jokes”, “pranks” or “rumors”!

On the evening of Thursday, February 22, 2018, Lancaster Sheriff’s Station became aware of rumors circulating via social media of a threat by a Quartz Hill High School student.  During the investigation deputies determined there was no credible threat to the school, students, or faculty. The student was detained and the investigation is on-going.

This is the 2nd incident this week.

The Sheriff’s Department takes each and every potential threat seriously.  We ask that parents and guardians please talk to their students regarding the serious consequences of making these types of “rumors,” “jokes,” or “pranks.”  Regardless of their intention, these threats are unlawful and it is important our students understand that thoroughly.

Lancaster Station would like to thank the student, parents, and faculty, for being so vigilant and making us aware of this situation.  We will continue to work closely with our students, parents, and school staff to keep our schools safe.

Remember if you see something, say something!
