Incident: Man Arrested for Driving with 46 License Suspensions
Location: Northbound Straight Path and Little East Neck Road, Wyandanch, New York
Date/Time: Friday, February 23, 2018 at approximately 4:30 p.m.
Suffolk County Police arrested a man for driving with a suspended, revoked and expired driver’s license after stopping him for a traffic violation in Wyandanch, NY.
Ralph R. Knowles was operating a 2010 Dodge Caravan northbound on Straight Path when he failed to signal while changing lanes near the intersection of Little East Neck Road.
First Precinct patrol officers initiated a traffic stop. A check of the Caravan’s license plate showed the registered owner of the vehicle to have a suspended driver's license. Knowles was not the registered owner of the vehicle. A check on Knowles's driver's license showed it had been suspended 46 times, had expired in June 1986 and was revoked in June 1987.
Officers arrested Knowles, 56, of West Babylon, N.Y. and transported him to the First Precinct where he was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 1st Degree, an E Felony. Knowles was released on bail and will be arraigned on a later date.
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
