Advisory

Arson 1609 S. River St.

On 02-22-18 at 10:24 pm officers from the Janesville Police Department, along with the Janesville Fire Department, responded to 1609 South River Road for a house fire. When officers arrived on scene they discovered all residents were out of the home and that the fire was mostly put out by the buildings sprinkler system. No one was injured.

Officers learned Elijah Dvorak, a resident of the home, most likely set the fire after becoming upset. Dvorak left prior to officer’s arrival.

On 02-23-18 at approximately 7:53am Rock County Dispatch received a call from an employee of the railroad advising a male subject was found on a train car on the railroad tracks near Sentry and W. Court St. The male matched the description of Dvorak.

At approximately 8:16am Janesville Officers found Dvorak at Casey’s gas station located at 2601 W. Court St. where he was taken into custody.

Elijah J. Dvorak, 18, admitted to intentionally starting fires at the house prior to leaving. He is currently being held on a previous court ordered commitment. All investigative reports regarding this incident are being forwarded to the Rock County District Attorney’s office for review of possible charges.
