This afternoon, the Sheriff's Office responded to the Broad River Elementary School to a report of possible gunshots heard coming from the direction of a wooded area behind the school. School administrators initiated a brief modified lockdown from 2:45 to 3:05 p.m., while deputies searched the wooded area for the source of the possible gunshots. After a thorough search of the woods and surrounding area, deputies were unable to locate any evidence that gunshots had been fired. School administrators discontinued the modified lockdown, after deputies concluded their search.
