School Threat - Spring Valley

The Rancho San Diego Sheriff's Station is investigating a threatening message at Steam Academy. Deputies were called to the campus at 1001 Leland Street in Spring Valley just before 9:00 a.m. today.

The threatening message was written on the stall of a bathroom indicating there was going to be a school shooting with today's date, February 23rd.

Deputies are working closely with the La Mesa-Spring Valley School District, but at this time the message is not deemed credible. Students will be dismissed at normal schedule at 3:05 p.m. Deputies will be providing extra patrols at the school.

These are tense times for schools. The Sheriff's Department and local school districts take every threat seriously and nothing can be dismissed or ignored.
