Lockport Police warn residents that our phone number is being used for the IRS scam 
The Lockport Police Department received a call today from one of our residents that they had gotten a phone call from an individual claiming to be from the IRS. This person was demanding that the resident immediately pay money to settle a claim for owed taxes. The residents caller ID showed that the call came from 815-838-2132.
This phone number is for the Records Section of the Lockport Police Department. The Lockport PD will never contact residents to discuss their taxes or any tax debt. The IRS will also never use our phone lines to contact you. If you receive a phone call from our phone number and are suspicious, please inform the caller that you will be hanging up and calling back. You can then call us at the 2132 number during normal business hours or at 815-838-2131 after hours to verify if we called you.
