On Wednesday 02/21/2018, just after 8:00 pm, MHPD Officers were dispatched to the intersection of Tennant Ave. and Church St. for multiple reports of a person that had been shot. Officers located an 18 year old male from San Jose with a gun shot wound through his upper leg. The Victim was transported to Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Witnesses on scene immediately advised arriving officers that a subject that was still in the area had been involved in the initial argument before gunshots were heard. Officers gave commands to this subject to stop and he immediately fled on foot. Officers were able to catch and arrest this subject after a short foot pursuit. He was identified as a 17 year old Morgan Hill resident. Witnesses also advised that the other suspect had been seen running N/B on Church St. before the arrival of officers.

The investigation revealed that two male suspects approached the Victim at the intersection and a verbal argument immediately began. One of the suspects pulled out a black semiautomatic handgun and fired two rounds, one of them, striking the victim.

The outstanding suspect was identified as a 17 year old Morgan Hill male a search was immediately conducted in the area and his residence. This suspect and weapon were not immediately located and the suspect later turned himself into the Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall. He was booked on charges of Assault with a Deadly Weapon, a firearm. The victim was treated and released from the Hospital.
