An arrest was made in yesterday’s homicide that occurred in the 1200 block of Empire Street. This morning at approximately 7:30 am an observant local citizen saw a subject that looked like the person of interest in the homicide walking in the area of Broadway and Taylor St. The citizen contacted police and provided the information. Officers soon arrived and located the person, still wearing the clothing as seen in the photograph released yesterday. The person was detained without incident and detectives from the Fairfield Police Investigations Bureau responded to the scene. This same person was later booked into Solano County Jail on charges of first degree murder.
The victim of yesterday’s homicide has been identified as Alexander Lind age 28 with an address in the City of Benecia. The person arrested has been identified as Derek Dunlap age 26 and is a local resident of the City of Fairfield. A photograph of Derek Dunlap will be released in the near future.
