Two People Arrested in SLA Inspection

Suffolk County Police have arrested two people after conducting State Liquor Authority (SLA) inspections on February 21 in the Town of Babylon.
 
First Precinct Crime Section officers conducted SLA inspections utilizing underage police agents.  The police agents attempted to purchase alcoholic beverages from targeted businesses. 
 
The following businesses did not comply with the New York State Liquor Authority and sold an alcoholic beverage to an underage police agent:

  • Jason Deli, 1180 Sunrise Highway, Copiague, NY
  • R & J Deli, 1708 Sunrise Highway, Copiague, NY 
First Precinct Crime Section officers arrested two men during the SLA Inspection:
  • Alex Nunez, 27, of Copiague, NY (Employee of Jason Deli)
  • Ramon Sime, 54, of Copiague, NY (Owner of R & J Deli)
Nunez, was charged with for NYS PL 260.20 - Unlawfully Dealing with a Child 1st  Degree and ABC Law 65.1 - Sale to Person Under 21. Nunez was issued a Field Appearance Ticket.
Ramon Sime was arrested and charged with two counts NYS PL 260.20 - Unlawfully Dealing with a Child 1st Degree, two counts ABC Law 65.1 - Sale to Person Under 21; and one count each ABC 105.22 - Disorderly Premise, an Unclassified Misdemeanor; NYS PL 225.05 - Promoting Gambling, a Class A Misdemeanor; NYS PL 225.30.2 - Possession of Gambling Devices, a Class A Misdemeanor; NYS Tax Law 1814.D - Possession of Untaxed Cigarettes, a Class A Misdemeanor.
The defendants will be arraigned at First District Court on April 25, 2018.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
