Weather Watch
The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for Athens County from 7:00PM, Thursday, 2/22/18 until 7:00AM, Sunday, 2/25/18.
A cold front will stall over the area bringing several rounds of heavy rainfall starting late Wednesday night and into Thursday morning. Waves of significant precipitation will continue to move across the area into Sunday.
Flooding of poor drainage and low lying areas, especially along small streams, creeks and rivers, especially the Ohio and Muskingum rivers, is possible.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS; A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts.
You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
