The City of Duarte and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department would like residents to be aware that three car burglaries occurred between late evening Monday, February 19 to early morning Tuesday, February 20  in the Royal Oaks or Area 9 of Duarte.

The cars burglarized were located at 2600 Block of Starcrest Drive, 3000 Block of Gardi Street, and 2700 Block of Briar Summit Drive- unknown persons stole a skateboard, sunglasses, and other small items and shattered one car window.

What can I do to protect my street?

• Be alert for unfamiliar people and sounds. Do not ignore sounds such as glass breaking, your car alarm, or abnormal dog barking. If you see suspicious people in your neighborhood call Temple Station dispatch immediately (626) 285-7171 as a burglary could be in progress.
• If possible park your vehicle in a garage or within a gated front yard or driveway.
• Park in well-lit areas and consider installing motion lights in your driveway.
• If you have video surveillance, be sure to monitor it remotely for unusual motion.
• Keep your car clean and take all valuables home including items stored in the trunk. Also prevent identity theft by removing any documents with personal information.
