February 17, 2018 Death Investigation Update - Detectives are investigating the incident as a murder suicide.

During the evening hours of February 17, Fremont detectives responded to the 37800 block of Third Street to investigate the death of two residents found shortly after 5:00 pm during the course of a welfare check at the residence. 

Fremont patrol officers were dispatched to the residence after family members reported they could not reach their loved ones and were concerned for their welfare. Officers arrived and forced entry to the residence. Once inside they located a deceased 56 year old adult male, 49 year old female and a dog. All three had visible gun shot wounds.  A firearm, believed to be used during the incident, was located in close proximity to the male.

During the initial hours of the investigation, detectives were able to speak with family, neighbors and other people close to the deceased. In addition, Crime Scene Investigators examined and collected evidence. Based on the the statements and evidence at the scene, Fremont detectives believe this is a case of murder suicide.

The Alameda County Coroner responded and took custody of the deceased.  Their investigation will determine the official cause of death.
