When an active shooter is in your vicinity you have three options RUN, HIDE, FIGHT.

An active shooter event is an individual actively engaged in killing or attempting to kill people in a confined and populated area, typically through the use of firearms.
• Victims are selected at random
• Event is unpredictable
• Knowing what to do can save lives
When an active shooter is in your vicinity you have three options RUN, HIDE, FIGHT. You must be prepared both mentally and physically to deal with the situation.
Run
• Have an escape route
• Leave your belongings behind
• Evacuate regardless of whether others follow
• Help others escape, if it’s possible
Hide
• Hide in an area out of the shooters view
• Lock/ block door to your hiding place
• Silence your cell phone and stay quiet
Fight
• Fight as a last resort
• Attempt to incapacitate the shooter
• Improvise weapons or throw items at the active shooter
